A remarkable clematis which is very free-flowering producing a display of masses of 9.0cm, velvety violet-purple flowers with lighter central bars and greenish-white and purple stamens. Growing 3.0m to 4.0m in height and flowering from mid-summer to early-autumn this hardy variety is an excellent choice for trellises, walls, fences or arbors.

Raised by Brother Stefan Franzac of Poland in 1984 and introduced in 1990 it has received the Royal Horticultural Society 'Award of Garden Merit'.
