The pretty, mid mauvy-pink flowers have deep rose-pink along the central bar and irregular white markings with a delicate satin sheen across their lightly textured surfaces. The outer tepals are broad and overlapping and those, plus the inner layers, taper along frilly margins to pointed tips. The stamens have white filaments and yellow anthers. The early blooms produced on the old wood are doubles while the later blooms will be single.
Piilu grows to 1.6 to 2.0m and is suitable for growing in containers or planting in the ground.
