This clematis vine produces an abundance of small flowers that open from mid-summer to late autumn. The white blossoms are faintly tinged with mauve when young and develop into open, bell-shaped, single flowers around 5.0 to7.5cm across. The flowers develop a green tinge at the extremities and a pale green bar on the reverse. The amount of green on the flowers will depend upon the amount of sunlight the plant receives. A lot of sun will result in less of the green colouring.
This variety will grow in the sun or shade, although excessive heat may cause the leaves to turn brown. Plant in fertile, well drained but moist, slightly acidic soils with plenty of organic matter. It has been a winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit from the Royal Horticultural Society because of its noteworthy qualities.
