An older variety of clematis that has brought colour and interest to gardens for over 100 years. Venosa Violacea will produce a profusion of medium sized 10.0cm, deep velvety-purple flowers with a prominent white bar and deep-purple stamens. Flowering from mid-summer to early-autumn, this vigorous and floriferous clematis is hardy and adaptable.

Raised by Lemoine et Fils of France and introduced in 1883 it has been the recipient of the Royal Horticultural Society 'Award of Garden Merit'.
