A charming, winter-flowering clematis, Balearica is an evergreen vine with fragrant, creamy-white, bell-shaped blooms speckled with reddish-maroon freckles inside. Flowering from mid to late winter through to early spring it adds a dash of colour to the garden when most other plants are dormant. The evergreen foliage turns a bronze or purple in the winter months.

Introduced to the United Kingdom from Minorca in 1783.
