Originating from Japan and showing large velvety-purple flowers with a central boss of purple anthers on white filaments in two waves from spring through to autumn. The name 'Edomurasaki' means 'Old Edo Purple', Edo being the old name for Tokyo and the colour refers to the deep reddish-purple which was favoured as the high society colour during the Edo era (16th Century - 1868).
